technologogy bringing a new dimension to art creativity

Who would have thought that theatre would last up to today? The breakthrough of music and movies into the entertainment industry shifted the focus of many Zimbabweans from theatre such that it was hard for it to survive. It is because of technology that theatre has continued to survive up to today.

One may highlight the notion that technology has enabled theatre producers to up their game and improve their productions so that theatre lovers can continue to watch.

Technology has enabled the manipulation of light so that the director can be able to control the focus of people during the production. One of the plays were light has been manipulated to control the audience is Umbiko KaMadlenya directed by Nelson Mapako and The Taking by Raisedon Baya. During the play, The Taking the camera person used light to manipulate emotions of the audience and make them feel part of the production.

Lighting is can also be used to show different settings during theatre production and we should bear in mind that manipulation of light is an offspring of technology. Theatre producers can now show different setting at the same time by manipulating light.
